Am I Unethical and Unpatriotic for Teaching Outsourcing?
By David Frey
Saturday, Sep 26, 2009 07:12
As you might know, this past week we held our Outsourcing Masters Telesummit.

http://www.OutsourcingTelesummit.com

I personally thought it was one of the very best telesummits that we've done.

But a few people didn't think so.

In fact, I had a few subscribers get VERY MAD at me for promoting the concept of outsourcing.

I've included an email below from a fellow whose real name I'll keep annonymous. But we'll call him "Joe Parks."

After reading our email exchange, let me know what you think about outsourcing.

Post your comments on my blog at...

Here's the email exchange...

Outsourcing outside this country is one of the main reason this country is in such a downward spiral. You are helping to destroy the middle class who are the backbone of the US.

At a time when we are experiencing some of the highest unemployment rates.

I consider this summit and you a sell out and unpatriotic. You have become just another unethical hustler. Take me off your list.

Joe

Hi Joe,

There's a flipside to your (kinda harsh) comments.

But before I give my explanation, I served honorably for 6 1/2 years full time active duty in the Navy. I served in war time. I understand what patriotism is.

Calling me an "unethical hustler" is unfortunate. You can simply unsubscribe from my list. You don't have to act in such a juvenile, name calling fashion.

Now...

1. There are a LOT of solo entrepreneurs trying to reach their goals and dreams by starting their own home based business.

They can't afford to hire US employees. And the burdens that the government are putting on small businesses is making it even hard to turn a profit.

Outsourcing gives them an opportunity to reach success.

2. The $4 an hour you pay to someone in countries like the Phillipines is enough to allow them to lift themselves out of poverty and gives them hope for a brighter future for themselves and their families.

I've supported a family in Bolivia for over 9 years by sending them $300 a month. The money goes to a single mother with 2 children.

One of the children has cerebral palsy. That money has been their lifeline.

Is that "unethical hustling" because according to you, I should be giving that money to an American family instead.

In any case, Joe you have the right to unsubscribe yourself from any email I send to you, and I encourage you to take advantage of that right.

All the best.

David

Dave,

Simply hitting the unsubscribe button sometimes just isn't enough when principles are at steak.

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter"

Dave I am one of those solo entrepreneurs and I don't agree with your morals.

Serving in the military is patriotic but does not give you a free pass when it comes to doing business in an ethical way. So stop waving the flag.

Spend your money on cheap foreign labor to build your business is your choice.

That is the freedom we enjoy, but to teach and help others to do the same only makes our country's problem worst. Is that patriotic?

Regards,

Joe

The great thing about this country is that we can agree to disagree without the juvenile name calling.

I respect your position and you have 100% of the right to feel that way.

I see it differently. I think it's just as moral to help the people of the earth, no matter where they live, whether in the US, China or the Phillipines.

Foreign nationals are not less of a person just because they weren't born in the U.S.

By the way (not that this is anyone's business), I pay 1/10 of my GROSS income to charities every single month.

It's the first money that comes right off the top of my paycheck.

I've been doing that since I was 17 YEARS OLD (next month I'll be 46) I've never missed one month of donations and I've never paid less than 1/10 of all I make.

Plus, I withdraw from eating once a month for 2 meals and take that money and give it to a local charity.

I've been doing that for 29 YEARS as well.

Even when I was sitting on a ship in the middle of the Gulf of Fonseca during the Sandinista Contra Rebel War (of which I was involved in) I was donating 1/10 of my income plus my 2 meal monthly charitable donation.

So you can call me immoral and unpatriotic. That's your right. I respect that and I respect your right to express your opinion.

All I ask is that you do it in a non-personal, uncondescending way.

Thanks Joe.

All the best.

David
