A Simple Way to Generate Goodwill Using Parking Meters
The other day I was downtown in Houston meeting a friend of mine for lunch. Most of the parking downtown is run by paid parking lots or parking meters. As I parked my car and started walking toward the restaurant I noticed a bunch of parking violation tickets on the windshields of the cars. I didn't give it much thought. But as I kept walking I kept seeing them and I said to myself that there couldn't possibly be this many people getting parking tickets. As I got a little close to one car that had a parking ticket on it I noticed that it had some writing on it. So I took it off the car and low and behold, it wasn't a parking ticket after all. It was... well... ...have a look for yourself. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Pretty cool huh. I loved the idea. The Law of Reciprocity This little tactic used what is commonly known as, "The Law of Reciprocity." The Law of Reciprocity states that when you give something of value away for free the recipient is grateful and feels obligated to give you back something in return. Not only does this little trick (putting money in parking meters) give people a warm fuzzy, it also gives the car owner the desire to give you back something in return...which is hopefully their business. Hope you enjoyed this quick little tactic. If you have a retail show or restaurant in a downtown area and your downtown has parking meters, you might want to give this tactic a try. |
