Niche Marketing: How a Boring, Stale Old Insurance Company Found a New Niche that Injected Life Into their Company (and how you can do the same!)
Insurance has got to be one of the most boring products in the world. And most insurance is sold based on price only. If I had a $10 dollar bill for every insurance agent who has emailed me asking for advice I'd be extremely wealthy. Look What I Found While Browsing the Magazine Section at Barnes and Noble... I often go down to Barnes and Noble and sit down in the magazine section and just thumb through mags looking at advertisements (I know that sounds silly...but you'd be amazed at the ideas that come to me from doing it.) Well, the other day I was browsing a martial arts magazine and came across a full page ad for liability insurance. But is this insurance really all that different from regular insurance? Maybe...maybe not. It doesn't matter. What's important is that the prospect BELIEVES that it's the ONLY insurance for them. And that if they don't have that specific insurance, from that specific company, then they're missing out. That's The Idea Behind Niche Marketing and... ...that's why niche marketing is so powerful. This company has taken a boring product like insurance and has found a completely new way of positioning it for an entirely new market.
