A Most Amazing Direct Mail Letter
The "Copywriting Chiropractor" has done it again! Who is the "Copywriting Chiropractor?" His name is Dr. Greg Nielsen and he lives in the megatropolis of Waterford, Wisconsin. Dr. Nielsen is a unique fellow...to say the least. His little chiropractic practice probably does more revenue per employee than any practice in the country. What's Dr. Nielsen's secret? He is one of the most talented copywriters I've ever come across. He could stop his practice tomorrow and become mega wealthy writing copy for a living. (I'm not sure why he doesn't...maybe he likes to crack people's backs more than he likes to write.) Here's Why I Keep Getting Dr. Nielsen's Letters... Over the years, Dr. Nielsen has built up a substantial list of past patients and prospects. He never lets a month go by that he does not send something out to his list. Whether it's a newsletter or a specific offer. - - Dr. Nielsen always sends something. I happen to be fortunate enough to be on Dr. Nielsen's list because I purchased his marketing program last year. See http://www.DocNielsenStuff.com I highly recommended his course...even if you're not a chiropractor! He's got some amazing stuff inside. (I get no financial reward for recommending his course - I wish I did!) Those people who buy his marketing program not only get all his copywriting masterpieces from years past, they also get all his new newsletters, postcards, and letters that he sends out to his house list. So every month I get a new, fresh, and unique letter, postcard, or newsletter from Dr. Nielsen. His marketing stuff owns a prime spot in my swipe file. The Amazing "Royal Treatment Letter" This last month, Dr. Nielsen sent me one of the most amazing direct mail letters that I've ever received. It immediately JUMPED out of my pile of mail and said, "David, READ ME NOW!" (You'll see why in just a minute) As some of you know, Dr. Nielsen is famous for his "Staff Memo" letters. His "Staff Memo" letters are made to look like an actual memo from one of his staff members (duh). The "Royal Treatment Letter" that Dr. Nielsen sent me was a "staff memo" letter, but it came in a plastic bag so that you could see the letter plain and clear. You didn't have to open an envelope to see the letter. There it was, staring at me in my mail pile. The $50 "Grabber" The letter had something attached to it. I couldn't really make it out until I opened the plastic bag. It turned out to be a fake $50 bill inside a fake wallet (it looked real). Dr. Nielsen calls it the "magic wallet." (This is called a "grabber" in the direct mail world) You can get this fake wallet mailer at The $50 bill was inside the magic wallet. Those patients who brought the $50 bill into the his office, would receive a free office visit. The $50 bill was custom developed, just for Dr. Nielsen's practice. It even had an expiration date stamp on it. Very clever. And he also included a yellow coupon that his patients could give to their friends that would give them $10 off their first visit. What a great way to include a viral referral component to a direct mailer. If the patient didn't use the $50 bill, then maybe they would give the coupon to a friend. Here's What Was Really Cool About the Letter The staff memo letter was printed on paper that had been torn out of a notebook. To be honest, I have no idea how Dr. Nielsen pulled this off. It's nothing short of amazing. The letter was from Stefi, one of Dr. Nielsen's assistants. The letter was written in a courier font from an old typewriter (Smith-Corona, Model 1865). Don't ask me where he found an old typewriter to write the letter. But the effect is so genuine and original that you really believe that Stefi is writing the letter just to you. I could explain to you all the psychological tricks that Dr. Nielsen uses in his letter, but it would probably be better if you just read the letter yourself. Don't you think so? Would You Like to See Dr. Nielsen's Famous "Royal Treatment" Letter? If I tried to continue to explain how powerful this letter really is, I would not be able to do it justice. Really. You simply have to see it and read it, to appreciate it. So, what I've done, with Dr. Nielsen's permission, is I've scanned the letter, just as it came to me in my mail box. And I've also scanned each individual mail piece as well so that you can see the entire contents of the letter. It's definitely a "five star" addition to your swipe file.
